What’s affogato (Italian word for «drowned»)? Think of it as a sundae for adults that has it all: the hot, the cold, the bitter, the sweet AND the easy to make factor. Two ingredients, three steps. Yes, you read that right. Pour a shot of espresso over vanilla gelato. That’s it.

No gelato on hand? Use vanilla ice cream. Want to change things up? Use chocolate, hazelnut or caramel ice cream. Feel fancy? Dress it up with some chopped hazelnuts, cocoa powder or crumbled cookies. You can basically do anything you want 'cause with affogato, there are no rules!

  1. Place a scoop or two of gelato of your choosing in a cup, a heat-resistant glass or a bowl.
  2. Pour a single, short shot of hot espresso over the gelato (1 espresso per person).
  3. Add your choice of garnish and enjoy!
